After years of using iTunes for everything, Apple will split its functions into three different apps. Thus, iTunes is leaving. Fortunately, the new applications will reduce the amount of resources used. So, we hope that they will perform much better.

Is Apple abandoning iTunes?

In a way, Apple is abandoning iTunes, but only if your device is compatible with the other ones. Otherwise, you will be able to continue using iTunes for a while.

To make it easier to access the apps, we will leave a link to each one of their download pages below.

We understand the reason why iTunes is leaving Windows. After all, the app got overcrowded with features. So, over time, it became unreliable, slow, and less performant than its counterparts. Moreover, other users complained about iTunes being overall bad on Windows.

If you are concerned that you won’t be able to manage your phone or tablet easily anymore, don’t worry. One of the new applications, Apple Devices, will help you manage your phone and tablet. In addition, you will be able to restore, sync, and backup your data and perform manual updates.

The other two applications are pretty much self-explanatory. Apple TV is the streaming platform for movies and tv shows, and Apple Music allows you to listen to your favorite songs. Yet, iTunes will still be the app for podcasts and audiobooks for now. In addition, you should keep iTunes for its library, as the newer applications will require it.

As you can see, instead of having a jack of all trades and a master of none, Apple came up with the masters of one. Even if you will need four apps now instead of one, at least we know they will get updates and fixes to match the newer policies and, hopefully, our demands. Overall, we consider iTunes leaving a good thing.

Here’s what to do if Apple TV is not working on your device. Also, did you know that you can play Apple Music in your browser?

What are your thoughts on this? Are you going to get the 3 apps or are you sticking with iTunes for as long as it is available? Let us know in the comments.
