If you’ve updated to KDE Plasma 6.4, the first round of fixes is nearly here. Plasma 6.4.1 arrives June 24 with a focus on resolving key usability issues and broken behaviors across widgets, clipboard tools, and Discover.
According to the KDE blog post, the following are bug fixes included in Plasma 6.4.1:
- Selection bugs in the Folder View widget
- Clipboard popup failing to highlight the top item
- Discover’s list view rendering and shortcut cleanup
- Wallpaper plugin bugs caused by changing data formats
- System locking or suspending earlier than expected
- Scan-out issues on rotated displays
- Blank entries when installing wallpaper plugins
Keyboard shortcut bugs and UI glitches in KRunner have also been patched. Not to forget, Plasma 6.3.6 is also getting another update on July 8 to fix older bugs like missing shortcuts after upgrades and overflow in faded text.
Plasma 6.5 to feature compact emoji picker, better tiling, faster Activity Manager
Looking ahead, the KDE team detailed what’s next in This Week in Plasma. Plasma 6.5 development is underway, and it includes:
- A redesigned, more compact emoji picker
- Activity Manager trimming history to four months by default to prevent bloat
- Removal of the vertical line between time/date in the clock widget
- A relocated “Add New” button in Shortcuts settings for better space use
- Smaller custom tiling tile minimums (useful for ultrawide setups)
- Redesigned captive portal banner for cleaner network popups
The Plasma team continues weekly iteration, improving both functionality and visual polish. Plasma 6.5 doesn’t have a set release date yet, but development work is already active.
