A pre-release prototype of what appears to be the Lenovo Legion Go 2 has surfaced online through second-hand markets in China. The footage comes from a YouTube reupload of an original BiliBili video, where the device is seen in action.

According to a Reddit user, the factory behind the Legion Go has quietly begun offloading leftover developer units after shutting down the production line.

Speaking of the prototype, not much has changed design-wise. The detachable controller setup is still here, along with a massive 8.8-inch screen. But there’s a big shift in display tech. This model reportedly swaps the older LCD for a Samsung-made OLED panel that supports HDR and VRR. The resolution is now slightly lower at 1920 x 1200, but the refresh rate jumps to 144 Hz.

Inside, the Legion Go 2 packs AMD’s new Ryzen Z2 chip, a Zen 4 CPU paired with Radeon 780M graphics on RDNA 3. Lenovo previously confirmed a Z2 Extreme version was coming. The leaked unit also boasts 32GB LPDDR5X RAM running at 7500 MHz and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Battery capacity hits 74Wh.

The software looks tuned for gaming, with performance controls, overlay stats, and a game library tool. There’s Windows 11 out of the box, Wi-Fi 6E, and a built-in kickstand. One of the controllers can even double as a mouse thanks to the trackpad.

It’s not official yet, but the leaker says Lenovo may launch this handheld in September, priced around $1,000. Based on what we’re seeing, this could give other Windows handhelds like the ROG Ally 2 some tough competition.
