Microsoft 365 subscription price

Microsoft has announced that its Copilot and Designer tools are now available to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers in most markets. In addition, the company is increasing the price of its subscription service by $3 per month in the US.

In a blog post, the company said it has added new apps, features, and benefits, such as advanced security with Microsoft Defender, the Clipchamp video editing tool, and enhancements to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook.

There is also the addition of Copilot to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family, and with it, people can use AI to help with tasks like creating presentations and analyzing spreadsheets. Copilot is available in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

Microsoft is also introducing Microsoft Designer to the pack, which uses AI to help people easily create unique images. The Designer is available in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the standalone Designer app for web and mobile, and can be used to edit photos in other apps like Paint, Photos, and Notepad on Windows devices.

Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers will receive a monthly allotment of AI credits to use Copilot and Designer. The credits can also be used for AI-powered experiences in other apps. The subscribers can share their subscription with others, but not their Copilot and Designer allotment, which is tied to the subscription owner.

It’s worth noting that Copilot and Designer can be disabled in apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The new prices are:

  • Microsoft 365 Personal Classic plan for $6.99 per month (or $69.99 per year)
  • Microsoft 365 Family Classic plan for $9.99 per month (or $99.99 per year) that does not include Copilot, Designer, or AI credits

The current price of Microsoft 365 Personal subscription is $6.99 per month in the US, and Microsoft 365 Family costs $9.99 per month. Existing subscribers will not see the price increase until their next renewal.

Microsoft is also introducing a Microsoft 365 Basic plan for $3.99 per month (or $39.99 per year) that offers access to Microsoft 365 apps but not features like Copilot and Designer. The company says that the Basic plan is a good option for customers who are new to subscriptions and want to try out Microsoft 365.

The changes to Microsoft 365 subscription price will take effect in the coming months.
