Microsoft Access Version 2609 Fixes a Long List of Zoom, Form, and VBA Bugs

Microsoft has released Access Version 2609 (Build 16.0.20430.20092) to the Current Channel, and it brings bunch of fixes for forms, zooming, VBA, queries and customization. Here’s what has fixed in the latest update.

Microsoft Access gets a serious round of bug fixes

The biggest part of the update focuses on Zoom, with Microsoft fixing a surprisingly long list of issues that could make Access forms behave incorrectly at different zoom levels. Labels could previously lose their final character after using Size To Fit, while controls and captions could drift out of alignment on very wide forms. Microsoft has also fixed problems where scrolling a zoomed form could cause controls to paint in the wrong location or leave visual artifacts behind.

The update also fixes several editor issues. A rich-text editor could disappear while zooming, while an editor inside a sub-datasheet could remain stuck in its old position after the zoom level changed. There are fixes for more issues. For example, a combo-box selection in a new sub-datasheet record could be discarded, tiled background images could fail to cover the full form below 100% zoom, and disabling Access’s built-in Zoom could leave the database using a non-default zoom level.

Microsoft has also addressed a VBA issue where reading the Zoom property of a named form could return the zoom value of the active window instead. The property now returns the value for the form referenced by the expression.

Access also gets fixes for forms, queries and customization

Outside of Zoom, Microsoft has fixed several Forms and Reports problems. ControlTip text now keeps its line breaks, the Property Sheet icon no longer disappears after sorting properties, and scrolling over tiled backgrounds should no longer leave unwanted lines or remnants.

The Query Design window also gets a small but useful fix. Its splitter could previously draw outside the Access window and even appear over another application or monitor. Microsoft has now clipped the tracking line to the Query Design window.

Access Options also gets more flexibility. Users can now enter non-standard font sizes for the Property Sheet, Query Design and default datasheet font, with values ranging from 1 to 127 points. Microsoft has also widened the font-size boxes so three-digit values such as 127 can be displayed properly. Do note that One fix is not included in the initial September 22 build. Microsoft says the Option Group Wizard issue, where its values grid could appear on the wrong page, is scheduled for the September 29 update.
