Microsoft and Publicis Groupe Expand Partnership to Power Agentic Marketing

Microsoft and Publicis Groupe are going one step further in AI marketing, as they announced an expanded partnership to build a full-stack solution that unifies legacy systems, AI agents, and identity-based data. The goal of this partnership is to accelerate marketing outcomes in what they call the era of agentic AI, which allows marketers focus on strategy, creativity, and original ideas.

Unifying AI, cloud, and data for marketers

The partnership builds on Marcel, the AI platform Microsoft and Publicis co-created ten years ago. Microsoft provides Azure, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft Agent 365, and Microsoft IQ, while Publicis contributes Sapient’s Slingshot framework and the Epsilon identity platform. Both are aiming to embed AI agents into workflows that will help marketers automate campaigns, optimize spend, and target high-value audiences.

Publicis is rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot to over 114,000 employees worldwide and standardizing on Azure. AI agents are expected to handle customer identification, personalized content generation, and real-time campaign optimization across operations, commerce, and marketing. Integration at this scale remains challenging, and success will depend on how well the systems actually work together in live environments.

The Bodhi platform allows organizations to deploy enterprise-grade AI agents at scale, connecting data, workflows, and decision-making. Epsilon provides identity-based data so AI agents can reason, decide, and act on trusted, proprietary signals. In practice, this could change marketing operations, but execution will determine if it delivers measurable impact or remains theoretical.

This expansion arrives as AI becomes central to enterprise marketing strategy. Microsoft is positioning itself to compete against other large AI platforms by offering end-to-end solutions that link strategy, execution, and measurable outcomes. Not to forget, Publicis becoming Microsoft’s global media agency of record further strengthens that integration, giving both companies more control over campaigns and performance data.
