Microsoft Photos OCR

Last year, in October, Microsoft released the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capability on the Photos app, and with it, Windows users were able to copy text from photos and paste it into other apps.

In November, however, the Redmond-based tech giant paused the rollout of the feature, after users reported issues with it. Now, it has come back. Microsoft made OCR available in the Photos app, once again.

This time, the capability will be available to all Insider Channels, and Microsoft also announced it has made some improvements to the experience. The OCR button will now show up for every image, and it will also let Windows users know if it can’t be used on certain images. Plus, the Redmond-based tech giant also added a loading animation to make it easier for users.
