Microsoft Compliance Extension for Chrome

Microsoft has just brought a new addition to its already diverse collection of extensions for the Chrome Web Store.

And speaking of new additions, the Microsoft Compliance Extension for Chrome is more of an organizational extension, as it utilizes Microsoft’s Data Loss Prevention and Insider Risk Management solutions for sensitive workflows.

The Compliance Extension for Chrome is now available

What this extension basically does is enabling organizations to setup all granular policies for handling sensitive data on Chrome.

This includes actions such as blocking, as well as recording violations, going as far as allowing users to override it if they have a legitimate business need.

All of the the DLP events and logs can then be used through Insider Risk Management investigations, which can be utilized in order to deliver observations about threats.

In order to create awareness about these policy violations, and to also reduce training time, this extension quickly displays alert with guidance, as well as actions that a user can resort to if they perform such an activity.

Microsoft has paused development process for the moment

Even though this extension has been available for quite some time in preview, and it already has over 5,000 users, Microsoft hasn’t announced any new enhancements that come with general availability.

Furthermore, the only notable difference is the removal of the preview branding, which means that this extension has now entered a more permanent stage of its life.
