Microsoft Confirms Copilot 'Super App' Plans, It's Coming This Year

Microsoft has spent the last few years putting Copilot almost everywhere imaginable. Now, it finally looks ready to clean up the mess by bringing everything under one roof. Microsoft has confirmed it’s working on a single Copilot super app that combines many of its existing tools into one destination.

Microsoft wants Copilot to feel like one product

The confirmation came straight from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who, during the company’s latest earnings call, said the new experience will combine Copilot Chat, Code, Cowork, and Autopilots into one application serving both consumers and businesses.

“This is a major step forward for Copilot,” Nadella said while teasing more details in the near future. If all those names sound familiar, that’s because Microsoft has steadily expanded the Copilot brand across Windows, Microsoft 365, GitHub, Teams, Edge, and several enterprise products.

Speaking of that confusion, reports earlier this year suggested Microsoft was already working on a unified Copilot experience internally. At the time, the company reportedly wanted a single destination where users could switch between coding, chat, collaboration, and AI agents without hopping across different apps.

The timing isn’t a coincidence

Microsoft says the super app will launch this quarter, putting its release window somewhere before the end of October. Whether it arrives as a Windows 11 update or a standalone app remains unclear. During the earnings call, Nadella also said that conversations per user nearly doubled year over year, while weekly Copilot engagement is now comparable to Outlook and Teams.

That said, Microsoft isn’t the only company chasing this idea. OpenAI has been expanding ChatGPT beyond a chatbot, while Anthropic continues adding more agentic capabilities to Claude. The race is no longer about building another AI assistant. It’s about becoming the place where users do everything with AI. Let’s not forget that Microsoft also shared that its bet in Anthropic paid off more than OpenAI in FY26 Q4. The company reportedly record a profit of $3.2 billion from is investment in the AI company.
