Microsoft Teams is running into problems today. Users across multiple regions are reporting they can’t join meetings, while others say ongoing calls are disconnecting unexpectedly. Microsoft has now acknowledged the issue and started investigating.

Microsoft confirms Teams meeting issue

According to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, the problem is tracked under Message ID TM1437780.

Microsoft says affected users may be unable to join Microsoft Teams meetings or could experience unexpected disconnections.

We’re investigating a potential issue which is preventing users from joining Microsoft Teams meetings and/or is causing disconnections, and we’re checking for impact to your organization. We’ll provide an update within 30 minutes.

The advisory is currently marked as Investigating, with Microsoft identifying Microsoft Teams as the affected service.

Reddit fills with user reports

The outage isn’t limited to Microsoft’s own dashboard. A Reddit discussion also appears to have many users confirming similar problems. Several users say Teams meetings fail to connect, while others report calls dropping shortly after joining. Some also mention repeated connection attempts before the app eventually times out.

Microsoft has yet to share the root cause of the disruption or provide an estimated resolution time. As of now, if you’re unable to join Teams meetings or your calls keep disconnecting, the issue appears to be on Microsoft’s side rather than your device or network. As a reminder, last night, Microsoft 365 was knocked down in a massive outage.

This is a developing story…
