Microsoft Defender updates safeguard early deployed systems

Microsoft has launched a fresh Defender update that safeguards Windows against malware within initial hours after deployment. This monthly update package contains security intellect and performance fixes.

But maybe, the most crucial part of this update is the antimalware package. It updates Defender binaries in OS installation images just after they’re deployed to avoid them being old-fashioned and therefore open to attacks.

The update for Defender is present in Windows 11, Windows 10 (all editions), Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019 and also in Windows Server 2016.

Additionally, updates for Defender include important enhancements in performance that will enhance the user’s experience. Devices using Windows’ own antivirus or another safety solution can gain from these updates.

For updating Defender binaries, Microsoft suggests IT pros to service OS installation images every three months. The updates are simple to apply, you don’t need to order them except for the initial Defender update.

Microsoft stated that, This article talks about the antimalware update package for Microsoft Defender in OS installation images (WIM and VHD files). This feature works with OS installation images such as Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows Server 2022. It is also compatible with Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2016.

When a fresh Defender package edition comes out, assistance for the last two versions will be limited to technical aid. Versions that are before the previous two, they won’t get any help anymore.

The most recent Defender package version is 1.411.111.0, it includes updates for anti-malware client, anti-malware engine and signature versions in OS installation images to:

  • Platform version: 4.18.24050.7
  • Engine version: 1.1.24050.2
  • Security intelligence version: 1.411.111.0

The package size is approximately 78.2 MB for ARM64, 128 MB for x86 and 132 MB for x64 systems. Microsoft doesn’t acknowledge any issues with this update but we’ll just see about that in that following days.
