Microsoft Edge Bug Breaks Teams Meeting Access for Some Users
Temporary fix exists, though it may fail in some cases
Microsoft has confirmed a new issue affecting Microsoft Teams, caused by a recent Microsoft Edge update, marking another regression tied to the browser’s integration with the collaboration platform.
Teams meeting access disrupted by Edge regression
The problem, tracked under TM1288497, prevents some users from joining Teams meetings. Reports indicate that both scheduled meetings and access via direct meeting links can fail, disrupting normal workflows in enterprise environments.
According to Microsoft, the root cause is a regression introduced in a recent Edge release. The company has not provided deeper technical details yet, but it is actively analyzing diagnostic data and monitoring recent service changes to isolate the issue.
For now, the only available workaround involves restarting the Teams client. This fix may restore functionality in some cases, but Microsoft warns that it does not work consistently for all users.
Ongoing investigation as Teams issues continue
The issue is currently classified as an advisory, meaning it has limited scope, but its impact remains significant for affected organizations. When meeting access breaks, productivity can stall quickly, especially in remote or hybrid work setups that rely heavily on Teams.
This incident also highlights a broader pattern. Recent Edge updates have triggered multiple issues within Teams, including a previously reported bug affecting right-click paste functionality. The growing link between browser updates and core enterprise tools raises concerns about stability in tightly integrated ecosystems. Microsoft has not shared a timeline for a fix.
In parallel, the company recently rolled back a separate Teams update that prevented the app from launching for some users. At the same time, Microsoft continues to expand Teams with new anti-phishing protections and an upcoming Efficiency Mode aimed at improving performance.
