Microsoft Flight Simulator City Update 13 Rolls Out With Improved Visuals for 18 California Cities
Microsoft Flight Simulator has just rolled out City Update 13: California, which brings improved visuals to one of the most iconic states in the United States. The new update adds handcrafted detail to 18 cities across California, stretching from Sacramento in the north to San Diego in the south, and it’s available for free to all players.
Here’s everything included in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s City Update 13: California
Dubbed the “Golden State,” California gets a noticeable upgrade, thanks to improved terrain modeling and city detailing. Microsoft says each area of interest has been rebuilt using TIN surface texturing, which offers sharper skylines, more realistic terrain, and better-looking landmarks during low-altitude flights.
The update covers a wide range of locations across the state. In Northern California, Sacramento and multiple cities across the San Francisco Bay Area are included, such as San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Fremont, San Rafael, and Novato. Popular landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Coit Tower, and the Transamerica Pyramid are now visible quite accurately.
Visuals of Moving inland, San Joaquin Valley cities like Modesto, Fresno, and Visalia also get some refresh. For those unaware, these areas highlight California’s agricultural heartland and include landmarks such as the Modesto Arch, Old Fresno Water Tower, and historic downtown structures.
Along the Central Coast, Santa Maria and Santa Barbara join the list, showcasing coastal terrain, vineyards, and Spanish-style architecture. The Greater Los Angeles region gets one of the biggest upgrades, which includes cities like Los Angeles, Glendale, Santa Clarita, Inglewood, Long Beach, Anaheim, and Irvine, with popular spots such as Griffith Observatory, SoFi Stadium, Disneyland, and the Port of Long Beach.
Available for all players for free
Last but not least, San Diego receives updated skyline detail and landmarks, including the Coronado Bridge and USS Midway Museum. The City Update 13: California is available now in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 for everyone. All tou have to do is update the simulator to download it.
