Microsoft has announced deprecation of the Clipchamp iOS app, with the shutdown set now set for June 9, 2026. The news comes via Windows Central, which spotted a document outlining Clipchamp’s iOS app deprecation. Once the deadline arrives, iOS app users will no longer be able to use the Clipchamp iOS app for video editing, as the company shifts focus to its web and desktop platforms.

Clipchamp iOS app is being discontinued

According to Microsoft, the decision comes after observing user behavior, with most people preferring to edit video projects on the web and desktop versions of Clipchamp. “In order to deliver high-value features and improvements, we are focusing our efforts on these applications to benefit users,” notes the company.

Just to be clear the deprecation only affects the iOS app. The web and desktop versions of Clipchamp will continue to work normally, with no changes planned for those platforms.

What Clipchamp iOS app users need to do before June 9

Microsoft has confirmed that after June 9, 2026, any video projects that are not exported to a mobile device will be deleted. This makes it important for users to export their work in MP4 format before the cutoff date.

After the deadline, the Clipchamp iOS app will no longer be supported. Microsoft also encourages users to uninstall the app, as it will no longer receive updates or functionality.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has delivered bad news related to Clipchamp. If you are unaware, Microsoft now requires all Clipchamp projects to be saved to OneDrive to remain editable. If you want to save projects locally, you can archive them on your PC. However, you’ll need to upload them to OneDrive if you want to edit them later.
