Windows Share, the platform within Windows 11 that allows users to share files, and other documents quickly, is getting some very unusual features.
According to tech enthusiast, @phantomofearth, Windows Share will be enhanced with image editing and photo compression tools. Microsoft will add some new context boxes to the tool, allowing users to edit images further before they can share them.
There are options to crop, adjust, filter, and markup an image to various degrees. Microsoft also ensures that users can edit the images in Windows Share meticulously.
This is quite useful in many ways. Consider taking a screenshot, and then right before sharing that screenshot with someone, you can edit it to highlight preferred elements. It should work similar to ShareX or even Snipping Tool if it had sharing capabilities.
For now, as you can see below, Microsoft is testing the new capabilities in Windows Share in the Beta Channel of the Windows Insider Program.
It’s worth noting that @phantomofearth spotted it in Windows 11 23H2 Beta.
What do you think about it?
