Microsoft has quietly closed one more of its last remaining offline stores. This time, it’s the Sydney Experience Centre, which shut its doors to the public on May 10, 2025.
The move comes just months after Microsoft pulled out of its UK storefront in London and the recent announcement of layoffs. The latest closure leaves only two offline locations: one at 5th Avenue in New York and one at its headquarters in Redmond.
Microsoft initially closed down all its offline stores due to view of COVID-19 pandemic. But instead of leaving retail completely, it transformed four major stores into “Experience Centers” — part showroom, part support hub. Now, half of those are gone.
In a short update, the company said:
The Microsoft Experience Centre in Sydney will be closing to the public on 10 May, 2025. If you’re interested in learning about our products or need support, you can always visit us at Microsoft.com.

It’s clear Microsoft is doubling down on its online services. Now, the big question is whether a fully digital support and sales experience can match what those physical stores once offered. Moreover, there’s no word yet on how long the remaining two will stick around.
