Microsoft Paint, Snipping Tool & Notepad get AI features with latest Insider update

Microsoft has rolled out big updates to Paint, Snipping Tool, and Notepad for Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels. Since the new features like Sticker Generator in Paint are AI-focused, only eligible devices like Copilot+ PCs with Microsoft account signed in will only support them. 

Paint gets Sticker Generator and Object Select with the latest update 

Microsoft has updated Paint to version 11.2504.451.0 and it brings Sticker Generator, a new AI feature that lives inside the Copilot menu. You’ll type a prompt, and Paint instantly creates a set of stickers you can drag onto your canvas. All AI-generated stickers are saved for future use.

Next big update coming to Paint is Object Select. This tool uses AI to isolate individual objects on your canvas. You can easily select, move, or delete them without editing the background.

Microsoft has also added a new welcome screen (as seen in the article’s feature image) that highlights what’s new in Paint.

Snipping Tool now detects shapes and grabs color codes

Snipping Tool has bumped to version 11.2504.38.0. It brings two useful features: Perfect Screenshot and a color picker. The Perfect Screenshot feature uses AI to detect objects or shapes. It then snaps your selected area to match them perfectly. The color picker can now pull values in HEX, RGB, and HSL formats.

Notepad gets AI text generation

Notepad, now on version 11.2504.46.0, includes a new AI text generation feature. You can highlight any text, press Ctrl + Q, and describe what changes you want and AI will rewrite it for you.

This works only if you’re signed into a Microsoft Account with Copilot Pro or a Microsoft 365 subscription that includes AI credits. Not to forget, you can always disable the feature in settings.
