Microsoft Reportedly Receives Multiple Bids for Arkane Studios, Including Ubisoft
Ubisoft has reportedly submitted a bid to acquire Arkane Studios from Microsoft as the company continues restructuring its Xbox gaming business.
According to a Bloomberg report, several companies have expressed interest in acquiring the studio behind Dishonored and Deathloop, potentially preventing its closure.
Ubisoft is among four potential buyers for Arkane Studios
Ubisoft is reportedly one of several parties interested in acquiring Arkane Studios.
Two other companies have also submitted bids, although the report does not identify them. Another option would involve selling Arkane to its existing management team, allowing the developer to continue operating independently.
Microsoft is reportedly reviewing the offers, but the company has not announced a final decision or disclosed any potential purchase price.
Marvel’s Blade could survive if Arkane finds a buyer
Arkane Studios was developing Marvel’s Blade, an action game first announced in December 2023, before Microsoft’s Xbox restructuring raised questions about the studio’s future.
A successful acquisition could potentially allow development to continue under a new owner. However, the game’s future remains uncertain, and the report does not clarify whether Microsoft would include Marvel’s Blade or its development rights in a potential sale.
The outcome could also determine whether Arkane continues operating as an independent developer or becomes part of another major gaming publisher.
Microsoft reportedly wants to decide Arkane’s future before December
Microsoft is reportedly looking to finalize Arkane’s future before December 2026, giving potential buyers limited time to reach an agreement.
If negotiations fail, the studio could still face closure. Neither Microsoft nor Ubisoft has publicly confirmed an acquisition agreement.
The reported sale discussions come as Microsoft’s gaming business faces financial pressure. The company’s latest earnings showed that Xbox hardware revenue dropped 14%.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma also addressed the revenue decline as Microsoft continues evaluating its gaming strategy.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Game Pass November 2026 Wave 1 lineup, featuring 15 new games.
For now, Arkane’s future depends on whether Microsoft accepts one of the reported offers before its December deadline.
