Microsoft retires Copilot GPT Builder 6 months after its release

Microsoft’s Copilot GPT and Copilot GPT Builder features for consumers are ending, with the end date being July 10, 2024. This decision surprised many people because these tools were liked by users who found them helpful in various ways.

Even though the company is stopping these features, it’s important to note that they will still be accessible for enterprise-grade clients through Azure Cognitive Services Form Recognizer API and Text Analytics API.

However, as mentioned earlier, service support and updates will not be provided for regular consumer use after this cut-off point.

When Microsoft first made its promise, it was thrilling. With the new feature Copilot GPT Builder from Microsoft, anyone can create their own AI chatbots to help with different tasks and improve digital interactions in daily life. Creating customized GPTs was an interesting feature of the Copilot Pro subscription, which was released earlier this year.

However, unexpectedly, Microsoft declared that it would stop such services and delete any related data from July 10 to July 14, 2024.

Important: Microsoft will remove the ability to create GPTs starting July 10, 2024, and then remove all GPTs (created by Microsoft and by customers) along with their associated GPT data also starting July 10, 2024, through July 14, 2024.

When you go into edit mode for your GPT and move to the configure tab, you will see an option to copy and keep these instructions somewhere else.

Microsoft says it will continue improving Copilot Pro even though GPT Builder support will end. They emphasize that advanced models and image creation features will still be available.

However, Microsoft provides directions on how to cancel a subscription for those who think removing GPT Builder reduces the value of their subscription.
