Microsoft Retires Two Power Apps Tools as Copilot Takes Over

Microsoft is shutting down App Builder agent and vibe.powerapps.com on November 30, 2026, as it shifts its app-building capabilities to Copilot Studio and Copilot Cowork.

The company confirmed the retirement in Microsoft 365 Admin Center advisory MC1505609. Users can no longer create new applications through either service, and Microsoft is directing existing users toward its newer Copilot offerings.

Microsoft is replacing Power Apps services with Copilot

Microsoft is introducing two alternatives to replace the retiring services.

Apps in Copilot Cowork is already available to Frontier customers, while Apps in Copilot Studio is rolling out in public preview.

Both offerings aim to help users create applications through Microsoft’s AI-powered tools, continuing the company’s push to integrate Copilot into its productivity and development ecosystem.

Microsoft also plans to introduce in-product migration tools in the coming days to help users transfer their existing applications.

Users have until November 30 to migrate their apps

Microsoft has set November 30, 2026, as the final deadline for moving existing applications away from App Builder agent and vibe.powerapps.com.

Any apps that users fail to migrate before the deadline will become permanently inaccessible.

The migration process will not happen automatically. App creators and IT administrators must manually move their applications to the supported Copilot services.

Microsoft recommends that organizations begin preparing now to avoid losing access to existing apps when the services shut down.

The retirement comes as Microsoft continues expanding Copilot across its products. The company recently introduced a major productivity upgrade for its Copilot super app, adding built-in Office editing capabilities.

Microsoft also released its October 2026 Copilot Notebooks update, introducing Office editing, AI automations, and interactive reports.

Separately, Microsoft 365 Copilot will automatically apply strict security labels to audio summaries to strengthen information protection.
