It’s been almost a year since Microsoft unveiled Copilot+ PC devices, the AI-powered laptops that run on ARM architecture. While they’re faster and better than anything on the market, they’re still limited to only running ARM-based apps, and this is one reason why many tech enthusiasts are not really into getting them so far: some really useful apps, such as the classic version of Outlook, can’t run on these devices.
On Reddit, many Windows users are disappointed that Microsoft didn’t release an ARM-64 version of Classic Outlook, especially since this version of the emailing app is still available and enhanced with modern capabilities, such as AI.
I was extremely disheartened to find that Microsoft forces you to use new outlook on ARM based windows, because in my experience, you cannot do anything more advanced than setting up an IMAP account.
More Windows users then preferred the classic Outlook and asked Microsoft to release a standalone Classic Outlook app for ARM-64.
While there isn’t such a version, Microsoft indeed released an ARM-64 version of the entire Office suite three years ago. The suite also included classic Outlook. However, it was only available for Insiders back then, and it might not be available today—I looked everywhere on official Microsoft websites and forums, and I couldn’t find anything.
Will Microsoft release an ARM-64 version of the Classic Outlook app? Most likely, yes. As we said, the app already has AI capabilities, and support for it will continue for a few more years.
Would you use it?
