The days of getting to work only to have no available desk to work on are over, as Microsoft Teams, arguably the world’s most popular work-oriented platform, is set to debut a new Bookable Desks feature in May 2024, according to the latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.

Employees will now be able to book their desks right upon arriving and log into Microsoft Teams, as the new feature will show all the available desks they can book.

The capability doesn’t just stop here, though: IT managers can also have a look at all the booked desks, through the new Bookable Desks feature, which allows them to collect valuable insights and come up with plans of action according to this data.

They can do so easily by accessing the shared space section within Microsoft Teams, to gain an insight on which desks are already booked, and which aren’t.

With the bookable desks feature in Teams, users can reserve desks upon arrival by plugging in to shared desks. IT admins can discover bookable desks in shared spaces in the Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro Management portal and collect utilization data from these desks for proactive management and planning.

The new capability will improve Microsoft Teams to support an expanded list of requests. Microsoft recently announced that the platform will also offer managers ways to ensure new employees are welcomed properly by introducing the new curated list of Teams channels.

With this upcoming capability, the new employees can also make sure they won’t have to wait until management books the desks for them, as they can do it themselves.

On the other hand, managers can also gain insights on which desks are available, or booked, and which ones the new employees prefer.

With this capability, Teams also becomes an even more comprehensive platform, allowing for productivity and streamlined work, without social interaction.
