Microsoft Teams will finally enable users to send and receive SMS messages directly from the app on desktop and mobile versions. This will make it easier to communicate with people who are not using the Teams app.
In a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the Redmond-based tech giant says this feature will be available for users with the Microsoft Teams Calling Plan in the United States and Canada.
Here’s what the entry says:
Enabling the ability to send and receive SMS messages directly from the Teams app on desktop or mobile, making it easy to connect with users outside of your organization who are not using Teams. This feature will be available for Microsoft Teams Calling Plan users in the United States and Canada.
The capability can be used on Android and iOS phones or Mac and Windows-based desktop devices, and users can send and receive SMS in Microsoft Teams starting February 2025.
In other news, Teams’ Together Mode will also be capable of teaching managers how to set it properly.
