xbox app touch controls

In a bid to enhance the remote play experience, Microsoft will soon introduce touch controls to the Xbox’s Android and iOS apps. This is in line with recent developments where Apple opened its store to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The feature, currently in the Beta testing stage, will allow users to manage their consoles and play games from within the mobile app, eliminating the need for a dedicated controller. So, no more wires dangling around or issues with Bluetooth connectivity hampering your gaming experience.

But users who find the controller a better option would still be able to use it. An Xbox controller’s effectiveness can’t be undermined!

How do touch controls work on the Xbox Android and iOS app?

As per initial reports, the touch control works as an on-screen overlay and is compatible with most games, in addition to the console’s UI. Besides, the touch controls perform well, as was expected.

The feature is aimed at gamers hooked to the Microsoft Xbox Cloud Gaming service, which has had touch controls for a while now.

In a report released in 2021, Microsoft confirmed that nearly 20% of its Xbox Cloud Gaming service users rely on touch controls, a number we expect to have increased since then.

By introducing the touch control and remote play functionality to Xbox, Microsoft is changing the rules of the space.

We will share more on the feature in the coming days. But if you have had the chance to use touch controls in Xbox, share your experience in the comments section below!
