Minecraft Finally Gets a Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date

Minecraft has already found a home on nearly every major gaming platform. Nintendo Switch players have enjoyed the block-building adventure for years. Now, Nintendo Switch 2 owners finally know exactly when they’ll get their turn. The wait won’t be much longer.

Mojang has officially confirmed that Minecraft will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27. The announcement gives fans their first concrete release date after months of waiting for details about the game’s arrival on Nintendo’s latest console.

Minecraft on Switch 2 comes with visual upgrades

One of the biggest additions is Vibrant Visuals, which will serve as the default graphics mode on Nintendo Switch 2. The upgraded presentation introduces improved lighting, richer shadows, and a more detailed visual experience across Minecraft’s blocky world.

The improvements won’t stop with the base game. Mojang says supported content purchased through the Minecraft Marketplace will also benefit from the enhanced visuals wherever compatible.

Nintendo-exclusive content is getting attention as well. The popular Super Mario Mash-Up Pack is receiving an update designed to take advantage of the new visual features available on Switch 2. Players can once again explore familiar Mario locations, including Peach’s Castle and Delfino Plaza, while using themed skins, music, and textures exclusive to Nintendo platforms.

Existing Switch players won’t need to start over

Mojang also confirmed that current Nintendo Switch owners won’t be left behind. Players who already own Minecraft digitally will have access to a digital upgrade path for Nintendo Switch 2. The company hasn’t revealed how the upgrade will work or whether additional costs will apply. Those details are expected closer to launch.
