Over on X, multiple players are reporting that they are unable to log in or access the game. Many users say they are being greeted with the error message: “Please wait, encountered an error during authentication.” when attempting to launch or sign in to Minecraft.

As of now, the issue appears to be a widespread service disruption affecting players across multiple regions. Mojang has not yet provided an official explanation or an estimated time for a fix.

That said, the majority of user reports point to authentication and access-related issues rather than gameplay itself. Based on the reported problems. The outage graph remained relatively quiet throughout most of the previous 24 hours before a sudden spike in reports, suggesting the issue began abruptly.

What you can do as a Minecraft player during server outage

If you’re affected by the outage:

  • Check the official Minecraft and Mojang status pages for updates.
  • Wait a few minutes before attempting to log in again.
  • Avoid repeatedly restarting the launcher, as this is unlikely to resolve a server-side issue.
  • Monitor outage trackers to see when reports begin to decline.

As always, we’ll update this article if we hear any official update.

This is a developing story…
