Mozilla wants to surprise users with a fun Firefox logo on April Fools’ Day in the stable version of Firefox for everybody. But somehow, the organization has cancelled its plans. It should have been live today, but here it is—we have uncovered the “Derp Fox” for you to see in case you really miss it, as you may not have known about this anyway.

April Fools’ Day 2025 is today, so be careful and don’t believe everything you hear or see. But this one is real, not a prank or joke. Firefox’s April Fools’ logo on the New Tab Page.

Firefox, till now, has never done this kind of stuff, at least not on April 1st, but the company wanted to.

As you see in the video posted below, if you open Firefox and the New Tab Page, you can see the Derp Fox logo. When you mouse over it, it will spin clockwise and counterclockwise. Mozilla has abandoned this for some reason. We are sharing this for the Firefox community to know about—we wouldn’t have covered this if it was live.

Today, Google also hasn’t published any doodle on their homepage for this day. However, the search engine giant showcased one 15 years back in 2010 on April, 1st. Here it is.

According to Wikipedia, “The name ‘Topeka’ is a Kansa-Osage word that means ‘place where we dig potatoes,’ or ‘a good place to dig potatoes.'”

New Year 2025 is a mixed bag so far. Mozilla brought new profile management, tab grouping including AI suggestions, and vertical tabs features to the Nightly version for testing.

Additionally, Mozilla is working on adding Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) to the taskbar and mica effect on Windows -we have reported exclusively about PWA support, cheeck it here.

However, the launch of new terms of use and the Privacy Policy update has triggered some backlash from the community. Mozilla has to update and rephrase some of the words to make it clear for users again.
