'My Nintendo Store' to Be Renamed to 'Nintendo Store' on May 27

As previously rumored, Nintendo announced a price hike for the Switch 2 console in the US and many other regions, including Japan. While the US price hike is set to take effect from September 1, 2026, Nintendo is making a small but noticeable branding change to its digital storefront later this month.

Over on X, the company has confirmed that “My Nintendo Store” will officially be renamed to “Nintendo Store” starting May 27.

Nintendo is simplifying the name of its online storefront

Speaking of the change, Nintendo says the rename only affects the storefront branding itself. The company has clarified that there will be no changes to the actual service content, meaning purchases, accounts, and existing features should remain exactly the same after the transition.

At a time when major gaming platforms, including Xbox, are increasingly streamlining branding across services and ecosystems, this change appears to be part of Nintendo’s effort to simplify its online identity in the Switch 2 era.

While this storefront rename is much smaller in comparison to news delivered by the company in the recent past, it may help create a more unified branding approach globally.

For those unaware, the “My” branding has been closely linked to Nintendo’s account ecosystem for years through services like My Nintendo Rewards and the My Nintendo Store itself. As of now, Nintendo hasn’t announced any additional platform or storefront redesigns alongside the rename.

All that said, Nintendo players are quite happy with this subtle branding change. Many feel that the new name is “a lot cleaner.” Not to forget, Nintendo has also promised a strong lineup of Switch 2 games to offset the rising cost of the console in many regions.
