The NBA 2K27 release date is officially set for September 4, 2026, and it’ll be out across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. 2K has also announced a major MyTEAM shake-up before launch. The new system makes every Player Card more useful. Players can now level cards, exchange them, and carry progression across their collection.

NBA 2K27 gives MyTEAM cards a bigger role

The biggest addition is Player XP. Every Player Card can now gain experience through gameplay and unlock increasingly valuable upgrades. Those rewards include attribute boosts, an active Takeover at the start, an additional turbo meter, and another Badge Slot.

Player XP stays attached to the user’s account rather than the individual card. Progress therefore remains available if a card gets auctioned or exchanged. The Exchange is also being expanded significantly. Players can submit almost any Player Card, including Season rewards and cards previously used for Collection Rewards.

Do note that Free Agent cards remain excluded. Otherwise, 2K says the system should give unwanted cards greater value.

Cross-platform Auction House arrives with more multiplayer options

MyTEAM is also getting rotating multiplayer modes throughout the year. Triple Threat Online and Clutch Time Online return alongside Limited, Salary Cap, and new experiences.

Triple Threat Park adds nighttime streetball gameplay with 2v2 and 3v3 options. All-Star Team-Up also moves into full NBA and WNBA arenas. The Auction House is receiving an even bigger change. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 will share one cross-platform marketplace.

Breakout is gaining expanded progression, while Infinite Gauntlet can continue as long as players have eligible cards. Daily Login rewards are also being expanded. A new Scouting Report will show recently encountered cards and explain how players can obtain them. New Parallels will also add alternate card designs and rarities.
