Microsoft has introduced a new Calendar app designed to help Windows 11 users stay on top of their day directly from the taskbar.
The app is part of the Microsoft 365 Companion suite. So, the new Calendar app sits with the likes of People and File Search. The main aim is to make everyday tasks quicker and less distracting.
According to Shilpa Patel, Product Manager on the Microsoft 365 team, many users frequently switch between meetings and focused work, constantly checking their calendar. This new app offers a lightweight, fast way to see your schedule without breaking your flow.
Here’s what you can do with the new Calendar app in Windows 11:
- Quickly view all upcoming events and appointments at a glance. You can select any event to open the Teams meeting invite and join directly from the taskbar.
- Search events by title or organizer to find specific meetings quickly. The app also lets you open the meeting chat in Teams to catch up on the conversation.
- Pin the app to your taskbar to keep it in the same spot for easy access. Just right-click the icon and select “Pin to taskbar” to make it a permanent part of your workflow.
The Calendar app is currently available to Windows 11 users who have Microsoft 365 desktop apps installed and are part of the M365 Insiders Beta Channel on Enterprise or Business SKUs.
