As February is coming to a close, Microsoft has released new optional updates for Windows 10 versions 1809 and older today. If you’re still running version 1809 of the OS (or the October 2018 Update), you can install the build 17763.1075 which brings improvements for Windows Hello, battery life improvements when your PC is in Modern Standby mode, and more. You can check out the highlights of this optional update below:
- Updates an issue that prevents the speech application from opening for several minutes in a high noise environment.
- Improves the accuracy of Windows Hello face authentication.
- Updates an issue that might prevent ActiveX content from loading.
- Improves the battery performance during Modern Standby mode.
- Updates an issue that prevents you from taking a screenshot of a window.
- Updates an issue that adds an unwanted keyboard layout as the default after an upgrade even if you have already removed it.
- Updates an issue that prevents users from reactivating their copy of Windows using the product key stored in their Managed Service Account (MSA).
- Updates an issue that prevents some applications from printing to network printers.
Keep in mind that all these fixes for Windows 10 version 1809 will be included in next month’s Patch Tuesday update. It’s also worth reminding that this version of Windows 10 will reach end of support for Home and Pro users in May, and if you have yet to upgrade to a newer version of the OS Microsoft will soon automatically initiate the update process on your PC. New optional updates are also available for Windows 10 versions 1803, 1709, and 1607 today, though these patches are only available for Enterprise and Education users.
