Nintendo Switch 2 Demo Kiosks Reportedly Start Warning Players About September Price Hike

Nintendo Switch 2 buyers are getting another reminder before the console becomes more expensive. Store demo kiosks are now reportedly displaying Nintendo’s upcoming US price. The warning confirms the system will see a price hike of $50, bumping from $449.99 to $499.99 on September 1, 2026. To remind you, Nintendo announced the price increase earlier this year.

The $50 price hike is now appearing in stores

The warning reportedly appears between demo sessions on Switch 2 display kiosks. One Walmart customer spotted the message and shared it online. It states that the suggested retail price will increase to $499.99 on September 1. Actual retail pricing can still vary by store.

That means buyers currently have a short window before the higher MSRP arrives. Nintendo’s US website still lists the Switch 2 at $449.99. Nintendo previously announced similar increases across several markets. The company cited changing market conditions behind the revisions.

In Canada, the Switch 2 will rise from C$629.99 to C$679.99. Australia will see its price increase from AU$699.95 to AU$769.95.

Nintendo has already warned buyers about pricing

The September increase is not entirely unexpected. Nintendo announced the upcoming revisions back in May. The company has also declined to rule out additional Switch 2 price changes. That leaves some uncertainty around where pricing could go next.

The timing is notable because Switch 2 adoption remains strong. Nintendo reported 23.68 million units sold worldwide through June 30, 2026. The company said first-quarter sales declined year over year even if Switch 2 adoption is reportedly moving faster than the original Switch.
