Nintendo Switch 2 users are reporting an odd and inconsistent system notification: “Rumble has been turned off due to prolonged use.” Reddit user Wonderful_Guava1533 was the first one to report it and shared an image of the Switch 2 screen displaying the notification.
The post went viral within hours, and many users complained of experiencing the same problem. What’s worse is that they are getting rumble notifications even during relatively short play sessions.
As IGN reports, this isn’t just a one-off glitch. Multiple players are seeing the rumble cut out unpredictably, sometimes after 90 minutes, other times after just a few. Worse, it doesn’t seem to follow any obvious pattern, and in some cases, rumble turns itself back on a few minutes later.
Nintendo hasn’t made any official confirmation about the rumble notification in Switch 2. Neither has it said anything about what’s been triggering it. However, some Switch 2 users believe it’s a power-saving feature kicking in when the console thinks you’ve been using rumble too much. Others argue it’s just buggy behavior that needs patching.
While power conservation might sound reasonable, especially with haptic-heavy games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Sonic Generations, players aren’t amused by the lack of control. Some have even resorted to manually disabling rumble in system settings just to avoid the pop-up.
Until Nintendo weighs in, this surprise notification is just one more minor frustration in what’s otherwise been a pretty smooth Switch 2 launch.
