After months of dominating theaters and becoming one of 2026’s biggest surprise hits, Obsession is finally making the jump to streaming. Universal has officially confirmed when the horror phenomenon lands on Peacock, giving fans another chance to see why Curry Barker’s breakout film became one of the year’s biggest success stories.

Obsession finally heads to Peacock this month

Universal has confirmed that Obsession begins streaming on Peacock on July 17, marking a 63-day theatrical window after its mid-May debut. The move follows an extraordinary theatrical run that few expected, especially for a low-budget horror movie.

Directed by Curry Barker, Obsession follows Bear (Michael Johnston), a young man who uses a mysterious supernatural object to make his longtime crush Nikki (Inde Navarrette) fall in love with him. Instead of getting the romance he always wanted, his wish spirals into a terrifying nightmare as Nikki’s obsession quickly becomes deadly.

Speaking of its theatrical performance, the film has become one of the biggest horror success stories in recent memory. Obsession opened with $17.1 million domestically before growing into a $249.5 million North American run thanks to exceptional word of mouth and an impressive A- CinemaScore, something rarely seen for horror releases. Worldwide, the movie has now crossed the $400 million mark.
