ChatGPT users are running into image generation issues right now. OpenAI has confirmed the issue alongside problems related to file uploads.

ChatGPT image generation is facing elevated errors

OpenAI’s status page currently shows elevated errors affecting image generation across both ChatGPT and its APIs. The company has applied a mitigation and says it is now monitoring the situation.

In other words, users who are trying to generate images via ChatGPT might encounter failed requests or inconsistent results at this point. The issue has reportedly remained active for around four hours.

The disruption is not limited to image generation, either. OpenAI has also confirmed problems with file uploads inside ChatGPT.

File uploads are delayed or failing

According to OpenAI, uploaded files may take longer than usual to process or fail altogether. OpenAI says a mitigation has already been applied here as well. At the time of publishing, the company has marked the issue as fixed and removed the entry from the Status page.

For users relying on ChatGPT for image creation or document-heavy workflows, the timing is far from ideal. OpenAI has yet to provide a concrete timeline for complete recovery.
