OpenClaw 2.0 Launches With Easier Setup and Live Agent Tracking

OpenClaw 2.0 is now available, bringing a simpler installation process, a rebuilt browser experience, conversation search, safer credential handling, and expanded Slack and media features.

OpenClaw has been updated to version 2.0, with the release focusing heavily on reducing setup friction.

OpenClaw 2.0 simplifies installation

The new installer can detect components users already have configured, including AI provider subscriptions, API keys, and locally installed AI models.

OpenClaw has also moved some configuration options out of the initial setup. Users can finish configuring those settings later instead of dealing with everything during installation.

Browser app gets a major rebuild

OpenClaw says its browser app now works as a “first-class experience.”

Users can continue configuration after setup, return to ongoing work more easily, and follow agent activity in real time.

Session progress now remains visible after page reloads. The interface also shows subagent activity and accumulated edits across web and native chat sessions.

Conversation search and safer credentials

OpenClaw 2.0 can search visible text from previous conversations using exact words or phrases. Selecting a matching result reopens the surrounding conversation.

Agents can also request credentials through masked prompts. This keeps the secret itself out of the chat and model context.

Users can optionally enable a proxy that limits protected-secret substitution to approved destinations.

Slack and media support improve

Slack integration now supports direct messages, workspace routing, actions, approvals, and presence.

OpenClaw has also improved media handling. Audio and video remain attached to conversations through uploads, generated responses, playback, and reloads.

Native playback controls are now available, while Apple and Android clients support video uploads.

In other news, Anthropic warns that Claude sessions are being stolen by malware. Additionally, Claude Code is losing 17% of its weekly limits.
