Outlook Login Issues Ongoing as Users Report Repeated Lockouts
Reports suggest the login issue has persisted for nearly a month
Microsoft has confirmed a recent outage affecting Microsoft Outlook, which left many users locked out of their accounts. The company rolled out a fix and stated that services are slowly recovering, but the experience on the user side tells a different story.
According to Neowin, a significant number of users still cannot access their inboxes even after the recovery update. This suggests the outage may have overlapped with a separate issue that has reportedly been affecting accounts for weeks.
Login errors continue after recovery
The most common message users encounter reads, “You’ve tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password,” even when credentials are correct. Many say that resetting their password allows temporary access, only for the problem to return shortly after.
Users on Reddit also report that recovery methods fail over time, with secondary accounts becoming locked as well. This creates a frustrating loop where attempts to regain access trigger further restrictions instead of resolving the issue.
The problem appears especially common among Hotmail accounts, pointing to a possible account-type-specific bug rather than a system-wide outage alone.
Complaints grow as support falls short
Frustration has spread across Reddit, where multiple users describe nearly identical scenarios. Despite these reports, Microsoft’s support infrastructure, which relies heavily on automated tools, has not delivered consistent solutions.
In several cases, Microsoft’s own account diagnostics indicate that everything is working as expected, even while users remain locked out. This disconnect has made it harder for affected individuals to escalate the issue or receive meaningful assistance.
No official acknowledgment of ongoing bug
Microsoft has addressed the initial outage but has not yet listed this recurring login problem as a known issue. Without formal recognition, users lack clear guidance on whether the issue is being actively investigated or when a fix might arrive.
For now, many remain unable to reliably access their email, with the lockout cycle continuing despite repeated recovery attempts.
At the same time, Microsoft continues to expand Microsoft Copilot integration in Outlook, aiming to improve email and calendar management through AI-powered features. The company is also preparing to phase out Outlook Lite, signaling a broader shift toward a more modern and feature-rich ecosystem.
While these updates highlight future improvements, they offer little relief to users still dealing with ongoing access issues today.
