Windows 11 Pluton

Microsoft is rolling out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.4230 (KB5058506) to the Beta Channel, and it includes some handy recovery tools, language updates for Copilot+ features, and improvements to Phone Link and Settings.

Quick machine recovery lands in Settings

If you’re testing Windows 11 version 24H2 with the update toggle on, there’s now a dedicated page for quick machine recovery under Settings > System > Recovery.

This tool helps your PC bounce back from serious boot problems by using Microsoft’s recovery environment to apply fixes. You can also choose how often it checks for issues and when it restarts to apply any recovery patches.

IT admins managing fleets of Copilot+ PCs can configure this from Intune through the new RemoteRemediationCSP integration.

Click to Do keeps expanding. Now, Windows Insiders using French or Spanish will see the Rewrite and Refine options returning. On top of that, intelligent text actions are now supported in German, Italian, and Portuguese.

Phone Link also gets some love:

  • Mobile notifications now show up in the Start menu, grouped by app.
  • You can mirror your Android screen with one click from the Start menu.
  • iPhone users can now see and access iCloud photos directly in Start, if they use the Windows iCloud app.

Lock screen and Settings changes

Microsoft has temporarily pulled back the lock screen widget personalization feature to fix bugs, but it’s coming back soon.

Meanwhile, Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon chips will see a more centered Settings search box, and users in the U.S. with Microsoft accounts will start seeing a new Device Card on the Settings Home screen. It gives a quick look at your specs and jumps to the full About page.

The Preview Build 26120.4230 (KB5058506) also fixes a bunch of similar issues that are listed here.
