Rockstar Allows Creators to Livestream Netflix's GTA 6 Extended Look, But Not Without Context or Commentary

GTA 6’s next major reveal is giving creators an unusually early chance to jump into the conversation. Following an official statement regarding all the leaks, Rockstar has now confirmed creators can share reaction content across social and video platforms once the Netflix premiere starts. The clarification comes just before the six-hour Netflix window starts. Creators can livestream the presentation, but Rockstar has set clear limits around how the footage can be used.

Creators can react as soon as Netflix goes live

Rockstar initially confirmed that creators can share their reactions after Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look debuts on Netflix. That opens the door for reaction videos, discussions, analysis, and other creator-led coverage. Importantly, creators do not need to wait for the later YouTube release.

Rockstar then added a more specific clarification about livestreams. “Quick clarification: you are free to livestream An Extended Look from 3 p.m. ET on August 27 providing you adhere to platform-specific guidance and you do not simply restream or repost the unedited video in full without context or commentary,” the studio noted in a separate post on X.

The wording makes the difference clear. Creators can stream the Extended Look, but they must add commentary or context.

They also need to follow the individual rules of their chosen platform. Simply broadcasting the entire unedited presentation is not permitted under Rockstar’s clarification.

Netflix gets the first six hours

An Extended Look premieres on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET on August 27. Rockstar will release the presentation on YouTube and the GTA VI website six hours later.

That gap could make the first few hours particularly busy across Twitch, YouTube, X, and other platforms. Fans may see reactions and breakdowns while Netflix still has the official footage exclusively.

The timing follows a turbulent week for GTA 6, with leaked gameplay clips spreading online. Rockstar has since acknowledged the leaks and expressed disappointment over how the footage reached players.

Now, the studio is giving creators a legitimate way to cover the official presentation. The approach could help Rockstar steer attention back toward its own footage.
