Rockstar Drops a 14.2GB Downloadable GTA 6: An Extended Look Video File That Looks Insanely Detailed

Rockstar has quietly dropped a 14.2GB high-quality download of GTA 6’s Extended Look, and it appears to be the version fans should watch if they want to inspect the visuals properly. The file is hosted directly through Rockstar’s official GTA 6 media page, so you don’t have to worry about downloading it.

GTA 6’s 14GB video is seriously different

The GTA 6: An Extended Look runs roughly 27 minutes and was captured entirely from the base PlayStation 5. As I mentioned in our initial impressions, the game looks an absolute banger in the extended gameplay premiere. Rockstar’s downloadable version preserves substantially more video data than the compressed streams on YouTube and Netflix.

The high-quality version reportedly runs at roughly 70Mbps. That is surpringly heavier than the streamed versions, where compression removes plenty of fine detail. The footage itself has not changed. This is still the same Extended Look, but the presentation is much cleaner. Every tiny details appears noticeably sharper when the compression is removed. Speaking of details, Rockstar also appears to have worked on NPC dialogue system, which pushes GTA 6 towards realism.

That difference is already getting attention from GTA 6 fans. Reddit users watching the download on OLED televisions have reported a major improvement over Netflix and YouTube.

Rockstar has placed the downloadable video inside its official GTA 6 media section. The page also feature the earlier trailers released by Rockstar. At a time when YouTube compression is usually good enough, GTA 6 makes a strong case for downloading the original. The huge file may finally show what Rockstar’s PS5 footage actually looks like before streaming platforms squeeze it down.

With GTA 6 launching November 19, this could become the preferred way to hunt through every visual detail.
