Sense Nova 5.0 AI model

In a significant development in the AI landscape, China’s SenseNova 5.0, developed by SenseTime, has surpassed other commonly available AI models, including ChatGPT-4 Turbo.

SenseNova 5.0 beats ChatGPT-4 Turbo when it comes to tasks like logical reasoning, creative writing, and complex mathematical problems.

As for logical reasoning, the AI model can effectively analyze intricate scenarios and come up with apt conclusions. Even in creative writing, the model delivers a perfect blend of cultural and technical references, making every piece of work a worthy read. And when it comes to mathematical problems, it can quickly solve even the most complex ones.

While highlighting the improvements in SenseNova 5.0 over the previous iterations, the official announcement read,

In terms of linguistic and creative capabilities, the creative writing, reasoning, and summary abilities of SenseNova 5.0 have significantly improved. Given the same knowledge input, it provides better comprehension, summarization, and question and answers, providing strong support for vertical applications such as education and the content industries. On its scientific capabilities, SenseNova 5.0 boasts best-in-class mathematical, coding and reasoning capabilities, providing a solid foundation for applications in finance and data analysis.

SenseNova 5.0 also excels at text-to-image generation, a feature that recently made its way to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Copilot.

On the multimodal capabilities of the AI model, SenseTime’s official blog reads,

SenseNova 5.0 is also equipped with superior multimodal capabilities in product application. It supports high-definition image parsing and understanding, as well as text-to-image generation. In addition, it extracts complex data across-documents and summarizes answers to questions, possessing strong multimodal interaction capability.

While SenseTime doesn’t share the actual scores attained in multimodal rankings, it does claim that the native AI model has scored highly in most, including getting the highest aggregate score on MMBench. The other multimodal rankings SenseTime mentioned are MathVista, AI2D and ChartQA.

A report from Bloomberg tells us that SenseTime’s stocks rose by 36% after it released SenseNova 5.0, highlighting the craze around AI in China. But the generative-AI company has been blacklisted by the US, dampening its prospects of collaborating with firms in the Western world.

Nevertheless, SenseTime is keen on making further enhancements to SenseNova and releasing improved iterations on the way, all in an effort to deliver a more user and market-oriented AI model. Besides, it also unveiled a text-to-video platform, much like OpenAI’s Sora AI, which will soon be available to users!
