Today, Lenovo announced its rollout of Alexa Show Mode support for its Windows 10 PCs. Back in January of this year during CES, Lenovo debuted its Alexa Show mode on its flagship Yoga Slim 9i laptop and set a roadmap for release in Q2 2021. Well, here we are in the first week of May and for many companies their Q2 fiscal year.

As a refresher, Alexa Show Mode will begin rolling out on Lenovo’s Yoga IdeaPad and ThinkPad lines and effectively turn those Windows 10-powered devices into Amazon Echo Show-like displays.

Alexa Show Mode

For anyone with an Amazon Echo Show, today’s rollout of supported features should seem familiar as it includes support for:

  • Ask for information on a wide range of topics
  • Play music and games
  • Set reminders and create to-do lists
  • Ask Alexa to read your favorite audiobook from Audible
  • View popular recipes
  • Watch news highlights
  • Easily control compatible smart home devices, or use Drop In to instantly check-in with approved contacts with just your voice
  • View the weather at a glance, and more

As powerful as a mouse click or keystroke, Alexa for PC lets you get more done with your PC with just your voice. Ask Alexa to play music from Amazon Music, favorite apps, and local radio and glance at song titles and album art from across the room or up close; your PC mics with far-field technology help Alexa to hear your voice commands clearly even while music is playing.

You can also set reminders and control your smart home while multitasking on your laptop. Students learning remotely can ask Alexa questions to help them with their homework. Or simply view rotating interesting updates and content such as the weather forecast for the week, things to try with Alexa, recommendations for music to listen to, and more as you move through your day.

Starting today Alexa Show Mode will be enabled on select ThinkPad and IdeaPad’s in the US, UK, Germany, Japan, India, Ireland, Austria, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. Lenovo plans to support more of its Alexa-enabled PCs with Show Mode later this year.
