Skype

Microsoft sees off the old method of activating free call minutes on Skype. In the new Skype Insider version (8.39.76.176) Microsoft abandons the manual method of logging in to the Microsoft account page to claim the free Skype call minutes.

The new Skype version will automatically activate the free 60 Skype call minutes for all the users who get an Office 365 subscription.

The manual procedure of activating free call minutes on Skype involves following these steps:

  1. Log in with Microsoft account at Office.com/myaccount
  2. Select Activate your Skype minutes
  3. Choose Activate.

For the time being, you cannot use the above-illustrated method to get free minutes on Skype. The new future should be available with the upcoming Skype releases.

New features coming to Skype

Besides, the new version introduces two more changes. Skype will save conversations with unsent messages as drafts.

The tool also prompts you to set up Caller ID for the outgoing calls and messages. In this way, the recipient will know that it’s you when you contact them on Skype.
