Sony Announces Guerrilla's Horizon Hunters Gathering With Intense Co‑Op Action
Guerrilla has officially announced Horizon Hunters Gathering, a new co-op action game set in the Horizon universe. The game lets up to three players team up as Hunters to take on deadly machines in tactical, skill-based combat. Guerrilla says the game builds on the precision of the Horizon titles while embracing team dynamics, offering players a fresh way to experience the world of Horizon.
Tactical hunts and game modes
Horizon Hunters Gathering is designed around replayable and challenging hunts. Guerrilla is revealing two modes at launch: Machine Incursion, a high-intensity mission with waves of machines led by a formidable boss, and Cauldron Descent, a multi-stage trial with ever-changing rooms and brutal machine encounters.
Both modes will be available in the upcoming closed playtest via the PlayStation Beta Program for PS5 and PC. Players can dive in, provide feedback, and help shape the game before it launches.
Players can choose from a roster of uniquely skilled Hunters, each with distinct melee or ranged abilities. Hunter roles include a rogue-lite perk system, letting teams craft builds that suit their playstyle. Hunters have personal motivations and struggles, adding depth to the narrative. The campaign story is fully canon, with new mysteries, characters, and threats, though Guerrilla is keeping most details under wraps for now.
Players will explore a variety of environments that bring missions to life, each offering unique challenges and opportunities for team strategy. Between missions, the social hub Hunters Gathering lets players connect, customize Hunters, upgrade gear, visit vendors, and prepare for the next adventure.

Closed playtests, cross-play, and community
The first closed playtest is set for the end of February, open to sign-ups through the PlayStation Beta Program. Horizon Hunters Gathering supports cross-play between PS5 and PC, as well as cross-progression for players using the same PlayStation account. Guerrilla plans to provide regular updates and playtest announcements in the months ahead, and they’ve launched a dedicated Horizon Hunters Gathering Discord for fans and testers.
Multiplayer has always been part of Guerrilla’s DNA, and this co-op hunting experience has been years in the making. The team hopes these playtests give players a glimpse of the scale and complexity of the game, or better yet, let them experience it firsthand.
