The long awaited S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is on everyone’s tongue and for good reasons. The FPS is amazingly immersive with highly realistic graphics and sound. Moreover, it has a non-linear story with a complex path story that can lead to many outcomes.
The developer GSC Game World used cutting-edge photogrammetry and scanning technologies to provide breathtaking graphics and the AI systems inside will keep the NPC a lot smarter than you’re used to.
This is all butterflies and rainbows until you learn about the latest system requirements for the game.
Gamers are already discussing them on Reddit and the reactions are not for the sore eyes.
Even for the lowest settings, you will need an Intel Core i7-7700K and AMD Ryzen 5 1600K, coupled with 16 GB of dual channel RAM, just to get a measly 30 FPS on a Full HD resolution.
However, when you move to the HIGH, recommended settings, things get really insane. You will need an Intel Core i7-11700 CPU and an AMD Ryzen 7 5800K graphics card, with 32GB of dual channel RAM to get to a 1440p resolution with 60 FPS.
As for the storage, make sure to prepare a 160 GB SSD to keep all that goodness together on your PC.
Some of the gamers discussing the system requirements reached the conclusion that the game is probably poorly optimized. They also reference the first title that was riddled with anomalies and that you should probably expect a lot of them on Stalker 2 as well.
It’s a bit early to talk about bugs. However, what we do know is that Stalker 2 is certainly setting new standards for FPS game requirements. Until now, the memory threshold for recommended requirements was 16 GB, and Stalker is moving the needle to 32 GB. That is not too surprising, but the CPU and GPU requirements are certainly at the top limit of gaming PCs.
You can buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on Steam right now, but it will be unlocked on November 20.
It remains to be seen how many gamers will actually be able to play Stalker 2 considering the high requirements. Then again, if you’re not quite on par with the recommended ones, will you settle for lower graphics just to play it? Tell us how you feel about that in the comments below.
