Steam Deck Gets Xbox and PS5 UI Makeovers Through Free GitHub Plugins
Steam Deck owners can now give their handheld a fresh look with unofficial Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 dashboards. Two community-made Decky Loader plugins replace parts of SteamOS Game Mode with familiar console-style interfaces.
Steam Deck gets an Xbox and PS5 interface makeover
The Xbox project, called Decky Xbox Dashboard, recreates Microsoft’s console dashboard with tabs for Home, My games & apps, Store, Community, and System. Players can navigate between sections using the shoulder buttons and customize the interface with Xbox-inspired colors.
Selecting a game and pressing Y opens a dedicated information page. It can display Steam Deck compatibility, achievements, installation options, and estimated completion times from HowLongToBeat.
The separate PS5 Dashboard plugin takes a different approach. It introduces horizontal game tiles, large background artwork, achievement cards, and PlayStation-inspired menus. Players can also find playtime information, reviews, and estimated completion times. Both projects are developed by GitHub user kromossomom-debug. The Xbox plugin remains in early alpha development, so some features may change or break with future Steam updates.

GitHub downloads are available, but these are not console emulators
Interested users can find the projects here. The Decky Xbox Dashboard repository includes its source code and releases, while the Decky PS5 Dashboad repository provides the PlayStation-style alternative (via VideoCardz).
Both plugins require Decky Loader, which lets users install community-made extensions. Installation involves downloading the plugin ZIP and using Decky’s developer settings to install it manually. Moreover, it should be noted that they do not let the Steam Deck run native Xbox or PlayStation games, nor do they add Xbox Game Pass support.
