Terraria’s Bigger & Bolder Update Refreshes Crafting, Worlds, and Multiplayer

terraria update

This has been an exciting week for gaming, with a new ARC Raiders update and the release of Highguard. But that’s not all, as Terraria has just received a major new update packed with improvements.

Terraria 1.4.5 update focuses on polish, new systems, and massive crossovers

As Nintendo Insider reports, 505 Games has rolled out a new software update for Terraria, officially updating the game to version 1.4.5 across supported platforms.

Developers say this update prioritizes polish and overall refinement, rather than focusing only on raw content additions. Still, the patch brings a huge number of changes and new features.

Here’s a brief list of the most notable improvements:

  • A brand-new crafting interface replaces the old grid system, adding tab-based categories, full search, and a Journey Mode–style layout for managing over 6,000 items.
  • Automatic crafting from nearby chests now works by default, allowing players to use stored materials without opening containers, with an optional manual toggle.
  • The new Spectator Mode lets dead players in multiplayer freely switch camera views between teammates while waiting to respawn.
  • A fully redesigned World Seed Menu allows visual selection and combination of special seeds, such as Remix and Not the Bees.
  • A new Skyblock world seed introduces a survival mode that starts players on a tiny floating island with no ground.
  • A major Dead Cells crossover adds Terraria-style weapons, furniture, vanity items, and themed gameplay content.
  • A Palworld crossover introduces functional Pals that assist with mining, gathering, and exploration.
  • Over 650 new items expand Terraria’s total item count beyond 6,000, greatly increasing progression and customization options.
  • New secret world seeds introduce extreme gameplay twists, including permanent rain, multi-team spawns, seasonal worlds, vampire effects, and dungeon-focused maps.
  • Inventory system upgrades add fully stackable identical items and a new Banner Menu that removes the need to carry banners manually.
  • Major atmosphere upgrades improve backgrounds, environmental effects, sprites, and overall visual presentation.

This update includes even more changes beyond this list, and players can find full details in the complete patch notes.

In other gaming news, Xbox may be planning a second Developer Direct later this year.
