Battlefield 3, which launched on the 25th of October, is already becoming one of the biggest games to launch in the history of gaming. Electronic Arts is already claiming that, thanks to the beta program, Battlefield 3 was the biggest FPS launch in the company’s history.

With the beta program achieving more than 8 million testers, both DICE and EA are happy. Now, one can argue that delivering a beta version of a game isn’t really a wise move to showcase a new game, but it did serve its intended purpose, which was to try and convert Call of Duty players to the Battlefield side. The beta program set the bar for the company by topping its social online play record with over 8 million beta testers.

Battlefield 3 has already attained over 3 million pre-orders, which is an impressive start for its sales figures. But the game still has work to do if it wants to overcome Call of Duty’s stats. Call of Duty: Black Ops sold roughly 5.6 million on launch day.

Battlefield 3 is currently available for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC platform.
