The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 This Year


After years of rumors, insider reports, and endless wish from fans around the world, Nintendo has officially announced a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made during today’s Nintendo Direct, and it instantly became one of the showcase’s biggest highlights.

Originally released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, Ocarina of Time helped define 3D action-adventure games and remains one of the highest-rated games of all time.

Nintendo’s new version appears to go far beyond a simple resolution upgrade. Early footage showcased a completely rebuilt visual presentation, hinting a proper remake rather than another remaster or re-release. While Nintendo stopped short of sharing a deep gameplay breakdown, the company confirmed the project is headed to Switch 2 in 2026.
