Surface Laptop 3 has reached the end of support for AMD and Intel varieties of this much-loved device, including those in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes. No more firmware and driver updates will be supplied now—these are important for fixing security problems and enhancing hardware performances, among other things.
Released with great excitement in October 2019, the Surface Laptop 3 was a big move for Microsoft as it included a bigger 15-inch model and AMD processors for the first time in its range. It was quite an improvement, offering noticeable enhancements such as a larger display, faster charging speed, and a more powerful processing unit.
Although it received good appreciation and achieved success, some criticisms were raised about its performance and battery life. If you have a Surface Laptop 3, your device won’t suddenly stop working, but there will be no more new driver updates.
Still, Microsoft will focus on the Surface Laptop 4, assuring new improvements and a support timeline with Windows updates until April 2027.
If you have the model but are thinking about getting a new Surface Laptop, the new ones might be a good idea. They’re very capable and quite sustainable, in the sense that you can repair them very easily.
